rack storage 12 cluster adding new disk

I need to add some new disk to an existing rs 12 that is presently configured with 6 36gb drives configured to 2 72gb raid 5 drives. I need to add an additional 150 gb logical drive to one of the nodes and have questions about the configuration. My understanding is the backplane is split in half when configured in cluster mode. I have 3 slots open on each half and need to add 6 36gb drives and I don't know if I can configure an array across the two sides of the backplane.

Re: rack storage 12 cluster adding new disk

A little more info would be helpful.

In particular, you are referring to "cluster mode" which I don't remember. If it is shared between two systems, then you may have a problem (see #3).

1. If there is just one system, then there should be no problem.

2. If there are two systems and they are running MSCS, then again, there should be no problem. Both servers have to have access to both drives and there is not "split" configured in the backplane.

3. If there are two systems and they cannot both "see" both exisiting drives, then you will have a problem.
