raid controller replacement

Hello All,

We are facing a problem with server RP5470 with 4si raid controller connected to DS 2300.
We were getting 14 failed disks out of 20 through irm and irdiag. Now we replaced the controller and all the disks are showing ready. How to get the old configuration and data back?

Thanks

Re: raid controller replacement

hi george,

run the internal raid manager:

# irm

and from there choose
-> configure
-> view

If the disks are ok and readable, it will prompt you to view NVRAM or disk config. If it doesn't prompt you, its ok. Just proceed and verify if all luns are detected accordingly.

Quit from the menu and whatever config seen earlier will be save again to disks.

Rescan back the disks.
# irdisplay -f
# ioscan -fn

If this still doesn't work, then you probably need to recreate back the luns,vg,lvs,fs and restore back from backup!

Hope the above will work and u dont have to restore. Good luck!

Rgds

Re: raid controller replacement

Hi ..

Its does nt ask to view from disk and NVRAM, just showing all the disk status as READY.

How verify the luns from this point, is there any option in the configure menu.

Re: raid controller replacement

Hi All

Finally its worked... I made online the failed disks from old controller and replaced the controller as per the info from HP Sol. cetr. Bangalore. After that I was able to detect all the luns and we got everything back...

Thanks
