removing and rebuilding raid array

Hi

I have one ml370 with 3x18 Ultra3 SCSI and 3x146 Ultra 320 SCSI GB hard drive. From that server I want move disks to another servers(ML 370,and Proliant DL380).Can I do that?,but i don't want to destroy my raid array on that servers(ml370,proliant DL380).What i must to do?
Did I need some tool for that or yust "plug & play" option works?

Re: removing and rebuilding raid array

hi,

if you are using smartarray raid cards the raid information is held on the disks so you wil not lose the raid config if you move them to another server with a smartarry raid card.

My doubt is, do you want to keep the data on the disks you are moving to the new servers?

As stated above, if the disks are in RAID and you move all the disks in the RAID at the same time, the Smart Array controllers will keep the data.

If you just need the disks and not the data on them, clear the configuration on them before moving them to a new server.

Re: removing and rebuilding raid array

yes, smartarray is in.
that means that i yust remove one disk to another server and that work?

And one more question...
how that second(ML 370,and Proliant DL380) server will format disk witch i want to remove.
or I must to do that?
