Re: very generic question about VAs

Yes, but you need to enable it explicitly and there is no easy and painless way back, because you have to re-initialize the entire array.

Re: very generic question about VAs

YES, but you can adjust the device for mirroring or autoraid. autoraid decides by itself if it's doing mirror the data or put it in a raid 5dp.
if you set it up for mirroring only, it's doing this.
if you set it up to autoraid, newer data will be miroored, older will "fall back" into raid 5dp.

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: very generic question about VAs

Thanx guys !

Now when we talk about enclosures, do all the VA models use only the DS2400 series enclosures?

Appreciated :)

Re: very generic question about VAs

The DS2400 was used with the first VA7400, the model changed later to DS2405. The DS2405 is the only supported enclosure with VA7400/7410/7110 now.

Hope this helps!

Re: very generic question about VAs

Well, you see, there is a history of the VAs and the enclosures.

The VA7100 is a single 1GB enclosure with 1 or 2 controllers and up to 15 drives.

The VA7400 consists of a 1GB controller enclosure with 1 or 2 controllers and up to 6 DS2400 or DS2405 disk enclosures. The VA7400 can hold up to 105 Drives.

The VA7110 consists of a 2GB controller enclosure with 1 or 2 controllers and up to 2 DS2405 disk enclosures. The VA7110 can hold up to 45 Drives.

The VA7410 consists of a 2GB controller enclosure with 1 or 2 controllers and up to 6 DS2405 disk enclosures. The VA7410 can hold up to 105 Drives.
