virtual array 7110 installation

Hello ,

I am trying to install a new virtual array 7110 . I follow all the installation steps from the manual and when I try to format the virtual array "vfpfmt" the system cancels the format . When I also try to create the "LUN 0" , the system says that the space is not correct , I have tried:

cfg -L 0 -a 1M -g 1
and
cfg -L 0 -a 1K -g 1

Anyone knows what can be happening???

Re: virtual array 7110 installation

What interface are you using to set up the system?

The VA7110 comes with a very easy to use GUI and MUI. if you've installed commandView, then just type cvui at the hp-ux prompt and you can go through the menus to configure the LUNs.

Also, the CommandView CD-ROM has a complete manual on the setup and configuration of CommandView.

Re: virtual array 7110 installation

I am still just administering it using a direct serial cable . I must create LUN 0 and format the device but can't . This is what I get :

No Map > vfpcfg -L 0 -a 1M -g 1

Unable to Create LUN. Invalid capacity.

No Map > vfpcfg -L0 -a 10M -g 1

Invalid option: -L0

No Map > vfpcfg -L 0 -a 10M -g 1

Unable to Create LUN. Invalid capacity.

No Map > vfpcfg -L 0 -a 20M -g 1

Unable to Create LUN. Invalid capacity.

Re: virtual array 7110 installation

First, Did you make sure that all of the LCCs on all of the enclosures are set to 2GB/s (I assume you are using 2GB/s fibre cards). If that doesn't solve it try this:

'No Map' means your Array is not ready. Try:

vfpmgr -R full

Then, post the output of this command:
vfpdsp -s

Re: virtual array 7110 installation

Hello Javier,

I see that you did not try help on the vfp.
It would have told you that you must specify

'YES and not only the character 'y'

after the format command :-)'
