in windows i can see the controller show up as 'unknown' device. i am able to download the smart array G2 drivers, which of course do not recognize the G1 unit

yes i am talking about the MSA 500, it was renamed the MSA 500 from the smart array controller.
i am attaching the unit to an LSI SCSI card, and not a smart array controller, do i need a smart array controller HBA?
