xp12000 lun size

Hello,

I am having an Xp12000 with open V emulation raid5. All my luns are of 15 GB size, and the operating system servers are HP-UX. Now we have ordered new storage so I want to know what are the advantages if I ask my CE to make each luns a min of 32 GB. Its very painful to manage small luns from an admin point. But what explanation or benefits can I say from XP design, hp-ux host, lun port, performance etc etc

Re: xp12000 lun size

it very much depends on what application you are planning to use with the storage space. you can refer to the following link for some white papers that may suggest to you some best practices :

Re: xp12000 lun size

Hi,

I dont think 32 GB LUNS would cause any performance problems.

Just remember spread workloads across RAID groups and CHA's. This distribution can be done at the host. Make a Disk Group with disks from different CHA's if possible.

Having a manageble size of LUNS is good, but its true that if you have smaller LUNS, you will have better space utilization.
