I have a customer asking about an A5710A which is 1 gig cache.I do not know anything about this machine.Is this one stick or 8 sticks?

My experience with these memories, nothing comes as one DIMM, alway in quad. Probably (90% sure) this is a set of 4 x 256MB DIMMs.

Logically, XP 256 doesn't support 1GB DIMMs.. :)

... and everything in an XP array is double. You do have two redundant cache boards; one in cluster1 and 1 in cluster 2.

If I recall right there were two types of Cache modules one with 16MB and one with 64MB DRAMs.

So a 1GB cache upgrade consists of 2 512MB junks and multiple DRAMs

Could it also be 8 sticks of 128 to make the 1 gig?

No matter what increments it is non-standard chips, you can only use original boards.

Problem is that the XP256 is out of support and HP does not provide parts anymore. So you need to find a source like a broker or so!
