xpinfo problem

Hi all,
I have a problem when launching xpinfo on my server it take many hours.
Note that this machine see approximatively 4000 ldev.

there's any way to avoid this slowness ?
for example using xpinfo with some options to scan_only the LDEVS recently published.

Thanks in advance.

Re: xpinfo problem

Hi,
try the
-f option which should report information only for the specified logical device.
the pain is one part of the reality

Re: xpinfo problem

Hi
With the -f option we must specify the raw device.

the problem are occured when i present a disk on the array to my host, the only infomation that i have is the LDEV number.
when executing xpinfo i can't specify the raw device because i don't know it yet, i just know the ldev number.

Thanks in advance.

Re: xpinfo problem

xpinfo became "extremely" slow as it started to display volume group information too (with xpinfo -d). It seems like that xpinfo is alway gathering this information, even if it is not displayed later.
You may try an old version, but it's possibly not compatible with newer boxes.
You can also schedule a cronjob every night to create a current xpinfo output for later use.
I don't know any other measure to reduce the xpinfo runtime (except reducing the number of LUN's).

My 2 cents,
Armin
And now for something completely different...
