RAID-10 for Everything
Hi!
If RAID-10 is the best for performance and fault tolerance then why should we create seperate RAID for Operating System like RAID-1 and seperate for Application, Database and Data like RAID-5 or RAID-10? Why not use only RAID-10 for all?
Any Comments?
Thanks.

Re: RAID-10 for Everything
Hi,
I have some links for you...
1) http://www.buzzle.com/articles/raid5-vs-raid10.html
2) http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/244377-32-raid-raid-raid
3) http://www.cyberciti.biz/tips/raid5-vs-raid-10-safety-performance.html
Note:
Operating System Mirroring always have low priority as it can be installed from scratch..but Data and application should have high priority in all setup.

Re: RAID-10 for Everything
The common reason is because RAID10 is more wasteful than RAID5 and often one RAID5 array performs fine for most user's needs.
