Adding ML370 G5 SAS SFF 8-bay Drive Cage Kit under ESX

We have a ML370 with 8 harddrive, with vmware esx installed. We bought a 8-bay Drive Cage with controller ad harddrive. What should I do to install these ne hrddrives under esx ?
My first problem is to install in ML370. I think I should turn off the server and restart with startmart's cd inside. From startmart software I sholud install the 8 harddrives building the raid. It's correct ? The sever will not work during this operation, i think. It's necessary ?
To add in esx, i think, I should use vsphare client or server adding the new storage array.
It's correct ?

You need to create a new logical disk using SmartStart CD/ACU (it's in the 'maintain' section'.
After the reboot, use the vSphere client and the "Add Storage" link to create a new datastore.
