Fault Tolerance, NPIV and FC Virtual Connect

I see that the new VMware Fault Tolerance feature in vSphere 4 does not work with NPIV, but the FC Virtual Connect modules use NPIV.

Does this mean that Fault Tolerance cannot be used with Virtual Connect FC? I am not sure if the NPIV restriction applies only when used directly on a virtual machine HBA or not?

Am I right in thinking that the Virtual Connect module hides the fact that NPIV is in use from the virtual machine?

I think the restriction only applies when the ESX server does NPIV. Haven't watched it closely, but at least in the first release you could not 'stack' NPIV anyway - that is: run VC/NPIV and on top of that run ESX/NPIV.

Agreed. Only applies when using NPIV directly on the ESX side.
