Re: Vmware Integration

did you try to delete and import back the ESX and V-center clients in DP ??

If it doesn't work, try to uninstall and install again DP on your ESX and V-center

Re: Vmware Integration

mmmhhh....about three times in ESX and two in vCenter...

Is it possible that the issue has something to do with licensing? in omnicc don't see any VMware related license...

Re: Vmware Integration

Vmware integration needs one "Online for windows/linux" licence for each ESX,V-center and Proxy backup, there is no "VMware integration" licence.

Licences are no needed to configure, but only to start backups, so this is no a licence related problem.

My question could sounds like stupid, but are you sure that your Cell manager is DP 6.1 and not lower ?

Re: Vmware Integration

Positively sure:

root@BCKDP:/:omnicc -version
HP Data Protector A.06.10: OMNICC, internal build PHSS_39510/PHSS_39511/DPSOL_00370/DPLNX_00076, built on Tue Mar 17 02:47:31 2009

I'm getting a little frustrated...

Re: Vmware Integration

No one else has something to say? :(

OK, I'got some new info, VMware platform isn't seeing the backup zone (till' next weekend)...which explains why I can't browse /vmfs... but still don't see VMware Integration under "Backup Specifications" could the zoning issue be the cause of the problem?

Re: Vmware Integration

Other thought,

being a cluster platform...is necessary to integrate all the machines involved on the solution?

Re: Vmware Integration

I've installed the VMware Integration on one ESX server:
[root@esxc root]# rpm -qa |grep OB
OB2-VMW-A.06.10-1
OB2-CORE-A.06.10-1
OB2-DA-A.06.10-1
[root@esxc root]#
, the Vcenter Server and the (Windows) Proxy server. I can see:
[-] Backup
.... [-] Backup Specifications
........ [+] Filesystem
........ [+] VMware
.... [+] Templates

Have you already seen the document
""HP Data Protector 6.1 software VMware Integration Installation Best Practice
- c01768750"" ?

Re: Vmware Integration

Uwe, thnx for the reply...

...but, I've seen that document, and as a matter of fact, every doc that comes with DP 6.1, and none explains what is causing this particular issue...Installation was done from the c01768750.pdf...I've been reading also the Troubleshooting, and nothing yet....

Re: Vmware Integration

Are you sure? According to my tracking, it was create in june 2009 and did not come with DP 6.1.

Did you mean this instead?
