Download and install the vmware cli from the vmware website. (cli = commande line utility)
Download the HP ESXi offline bundle.
Install the HP bundle using the vmware cli.
The command should be something like:
vihostupdate.pl --server servername --install --bundle "path to the hp zip file"

I'd be interested to hear if installing the bundle exposed any additional information about the host to the vmware client.
