Re: HPE VMWare ESXi 6.5a Custom Image

It's a shame that no one can give us an ETA... Now vCenter Server is at 6.5c and ESXi at 6.5a, but HPE seems to be slow in releases... Why? Even Lenovo, Cisco and NEC had updated their ESXi to 6.5a!

Is there anyone that can give us a reply?

Re: HPE VMWare ESXi 6.5a Custom Image

This short guide describes how to upgrade your VMWare ESXi 6.5 installation to version 6.5d dating 18 April 2017.

VMware ESXi upgrade to ESXi 6.5d (April 2017)

You need to enable SSH on the GUI if you want to do this remotely.

Before starting it`s recommended to put the system in maintenance mode.

esxcli network firewall ruleset set -e true -r httpClient
esxcli software profile update -p ESXi-6.5.0-20170404001-standard \
-d https://hostupdate.vmware.com/software/VUM/PRODUCTION/main/vmw-depot-index.xml
esxcli network firewall ruleset set -e false -r httpClient

Afterwards, you have to reboot.

Thanks for the guide, but HPE drivers here are not included and update, am i right?
I always updated trough HPE custom images in order to be sure all the custom components and drivers are updated.

Hello,

referring to this HPE Document there should be a new Image Release based onVMWare ESXi Image 6.5. Patch 01 (b) - 2017-03-09 - 5146846:

http://h20566.www2.hpe.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=c04430318

But still no new download available yet - I guess we have to wait a lil bit more....

Manuel

I spoke to VMware about two weeks ago and they said they are working on 6.5 U1.  Haven't heard back from them since then.

Re: HPE VMWare ESXi 6.5a Custom Image

Hi,

I've installed 3 DL380G8 hosts with HPE Image VMware-ESXi-6.5.0-Update1-5969303-HPE-650.U1.10.1.0.14-Jul2017. The hosts are running fine until I do a remediate. After remediate I get a  PSOD.

- this happens with update 6.5U1 - VUM shows me that U1 is missing, don't know why, because I installed fonr HPE 6.5U1 ISO

- it also happens when I choose ixgben as update

The PSOD is that sfcb-intelcim is involved, is this a similar problem like the origianl one?

Re: HPE VMWare ESXi 6.5a Custom Image

So this looks like a complete diffrent problem. I hace some dl380Gen8 running with U1 without any problems.

Re: HPE VMWare ESXi 6.5a Custom Image

Right, it seems to be this problem https://vm.knutsson.it/2017/08/esxi-6-5-update-1-psod-on-hpe-460c-gen9-after-ixgben-driver-update/

Edit: exact same problem with "solution" from HPE. https://communities.vmware.com/message/2701184#2701184

Oh, well.
