Uplink Interface Name, vmnic#s could point Real Network?

We use ESXi 4.0 on DL320 G6.
So vmnic is started from vmnic2.
But we dont know witch (ABS)nic ports are vmnic2, 3,...

Sure, we know VMware's KB: 1002315, but we cannot isolate where the PCI bus identifier points nic port.

Somebody know nic ports layaut and PCI bus order of DL320 G6?

And, Why start vmnic2 instead of vmnic0?
It is included ILO ports?

Don't know why it starts with vmnic2. With traditional ESX I have seen interesting effects when an adapter was put in after the system was installed.

I would put all pNICs onto one vSwitch that holds the port group for the maintenance IP address and connect them to a pSwitch so you always have connectivity. Then pull one pNIC and watch in the vSphere client which VMKNIC goes down. Document it by the name and PCI-Slot/Adapter-port location. Plug it back into the pSwitch and go to the next pNIC.

Hi.
Unfortunatery, It's possible miss leading, I wonder.

There are two type of pNICs,
- Broadcom NetXtreme II BCM5709 1000Base-T
- 82571EB Gigabit Ethernet.

We can isolate by use ILO2 with MAC of NetXtreme.
But we cannot that of 82571EB.

Somebody any suggestion?

I'm not familiar with the rules - I've always gone the physical way to be 100% sure.

About the other question I am not sure I understand - are you looking for the VMNICs MAC addresses? You can find them through the CONFIGURATION tab of a server: Network Adapters - I've tried to attach a picture but the forums software did only respond with a blank screen after I clicked [Submit>>]
