VMWare server monitoring..?

Hi,

We have just gone to version 7, we have a few VMWare servers in our environment and was wondering what we can do to monitor these.

We have not bought any Control suite licenses which if i am correct provides more in depth monitoring..?

What can be monitored on VMWare and how do we set this up?

Re: VMWare server monitoring..?

If you using the HP version of ESXi or have installed the ESX Agents on ESX Server then you can foundation management and monitoring of VMware host Servers just as you would expect to monitor any Proliant from SIM. You don't need a license for that foundation management.

www.hp.com/go/esxidownload for ESXi bundle

http://h18004.www1.hp.com/products/servers/vmware/supportmatrix/hpvmware.html Support Matrix Select the tab for your version and all the way at the bottom of the VMware page are links to and listings of ESX Agents that support the various updates for that version.

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c02000740/c02000740.pdf WP describing HP's management of ESXi environment.

That should be enough to get you going
