Connecting to EMC via Brocade.
Platform: K580 - HP/UX 10.20 with 2 controllers connected to EMC Symmetrix via 2 brocade switches in quick loop (this simulates FC-AL).
Any experience/suggestions about changing timeout for disks to failover to alternate link when primary path fails. The default is 30 seconds.
The system runs sybase with tables in raw LVs. Whenever primary path fails due to a brocade reset, the 30 sec. wait before the alternate link takes control seem to cause data corruption.
thanks.

Re: Connecting to EMC via Brocade.
Hi Ven,
I would suggest you change the timeout to
180 seconds. EMC recommends this change of
setting as all of the work is done in the
EMC caching and never direct to disks as
some may think.
use the 'pvtimeout' to do this.
