EVA 4000 5TB License - Capacity?
Hi,
We currently have a 5TB License for our CV/EVA 4000 and have a couple of questions.
Currently we have 2 Disk Groups consisting of
8 - 300GB 10K drives
-Single Disk Protection
-CV states current total capacity as 1675.73GB
-Actual disk total capacity = 8(293GB) = ~2344GB
28 - 72GB 15K drives
-Double Disk Protection
-CV states current tatal capacity as 1639.02GB
-Actual disk total capacity = 28(69) = ~1932
CV stated total capacity = 3314.75GB
Actual disk total capacity = ~4276GB
My question is, what does the license limtation follow. Actual or CV stated capacities? We are looking to add disks to the disk group of 300GB 10K drives but need to know the definition of 5TB before we move ahead.
Thanks!

Re: EVA 4000 5TB License - Capacity?
you could get the controller configuration dump (this will have the values in bytes) and from that do the math to see if they mean 2^40 or 10^12 for terrabyte.
Single Disk protection actually reserves the space equivalent of the two largest disks in the disk group.
But if which is used for licensing I do not know.

Re: EVA 4000 5TB License - Capacity?
To confirm.
From the snapshot below I have 3314.76 GB of storage plus the 300GB and 2-72GB drives (drives in reserve for Drive failure Protection) . So, roughly speaking, the total capacity is close to 3750 GB? This would mean that there is, roughly, 1250 GB of headroom for additional disks to be added to either Disk Group?

Re: EVA 4000 5TB License - Capacity?
Hi GNewton,
Single disk protection level in the 300GB disk group will reserve ~600GB space.
Double disk protection level in the 72GB disk group will reserve ~288GB space.
Hence your total capacity used will come to 3315+300+288=3903GB. Roughly 1007 GB available for further use.
