We have an EVA 5000 having a license for "Continuous Access" (CA) and which runs under "Command View" (CV) version 3.2.
We need to upgrade "CV" to the version 7.0.x.
My questions would be the followings:
1- would the license for the "CA" be valid after upgrade?
2- Will "CA" work on both sides in case where the first site is running "CV" version 7.0.x and the second site is running "CV" version 3.2 or should we upgrade the "CA" version which currently runs under the "CV" version 3.2?
3- Where can I find the firmware version VCS 3.028 for EVA 5000? can you kindly provide us with the link to the website?
Your prompt reply is highly appreciated.
Thanking you in advance,
John

Re: EVA Command View upgrade and license for CA
Check http://forums12.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?threadId=1176007

You must ask your sales representative to provide you new licenses
For Continous Access, you should have the same environment on both sides.
Firmware 3028 for EVA5000 here:
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software5/COL11349/co-33573-1
Disk firmware here:
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software5/COL11394/co-33644-1
But you should know that there's a newer version, 3110.

SolutionSince you are running with very old version of CV.You cant directly upgrade to CV 7.0
You have to do upgrade like the sequence 3.2 => 4.0 => 5.1 => 6.0 => 6.0.2 => 7.0
Before upgrading we have to check the Compatability Matrix of CA also.
Well you can call hp Representative

Re: EVA Command View upgrade and license for CA
Thank you very much for your precious information.
Meantime I have the following questions:
1- Is CA version 1.0 compatible with command view 4.1. (I will upgrade to command view 4.1 for the time being), and if not what is the compatible version and from where can I get it?
2- Can I upgrade the controller firmware on a single site without upgrading the firmware on the other site and without stopping the CA?
Thanking you in advance for your best cooperation.
John

Re: EVA Command View upgrade and license for CA
Starting with CV 7.0 only needs license.
You can use CV 6.0 if you do not need any license to be purchased
