EVA4000 Re Initialization
Hi,
I have a EVA4000 and it is mounted to few servers. The storage array controlled by a separate server installed command view EVA.
Last week i have noticed that one of the HDD of the array had flailed and to replace failed HDD I tried to login to command view EVA but the storage system was not listed there and then I found out that it was not functioning due to failure of the server fiber HBA.
I have replaced the failed HBA with a new one and tried reopening command view EVA but the storage system was not discovered so when i click on discover the EVA array shows as an uninitiated array.
Since the current storage drives mounted to few production servers I am worried about re initializing the storage system since I don't know whether it would destroy all data.
Please let me know if I initialize the storage whether it would destroy all data and configuration.
Regards
Jeffry

Re: EVA4000 Re Initialization
Yes, you clear and delete everything.
Don't do this!
How about a screenshot?
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: EVA4000 Re Initialization
Hi Torsten,
I don't have access to the system now. I will post the screenshot as soon as I get access to the system.
I am worried about how to replace the failed drive without having access to my command view EVA.

Jeffry

Re: EVA4000 Re Initialization
Hi Torsten,
Thanks for the quick reply.
Any advice on replacing the failed drive with a new drive without access to command view EVA?
In case If second drive also failed would it affect production systems?
Do you know why the current storage not recognized by command view EVA after replacing the failed FC HBA

Re: EVA4000 Re Initialization
After changing the HBA - did you check the zoning of the switch?
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: EVA4000 Re Initialization
Hi Torsten,
I have not checked the zoning information of the switch I just plugged the same cable removed from the failed HBA and have not done any modifications on the switch also have not configured any zoning on the switch but still the new HBA sees the storage as uninitialized.

Re: EVA4000 Re Initialization
You should still be able to explore the hardware and see the status summery. Can you do this?
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.
