EVA5000.... minimum disk size?

I'm trying to make an EVA5000 work in my testlab. Everything is there except the disk drives. To save some money (much money) I tried to use some FC disks I salvaged from a Dell storage system, 36GB each.
I installed 8 of them but when I try to initialize the EVA I get a message like "insufficient available data storage".

Does someone know if there is a minimum size for the disks? Is 36GB too small?

Re: EVA5000.... minimum disk size?

The first-generation EVA-5000 was available with 36GByte disk drives - I've run one for some time. With early management software it was even possible to start the initialization with 4 disk drives. When we tried that in the training lab, one EVA booted and the other was caught in a boot-crash-reboot loop.

My guess is that the system does not properly work with the 3rd party disk drives - all EVAs up to the 8100 use special enhancements and not just the drive vendor's APIs.
