Fabric Environment with HP-UX 11i
I want to configure a environment with some HP 9000 with Fibre Channel Fabric cards (HP-UX 11i), 1 XP array, 2 Brocade switch and a Ultrium Library, that is a pure Fabric Environment......
I was read in a document from HP that Fabric is not supported in HP-UX 11i
Is this true?

Re: Fabric Environment with HP-UX 11i
HP-UX 11.i supports Fabric (just be sure to have the latest FC drivers and patches - 1.04 is an absolute minimum for Fabric ).

Re: Fabric Environment with HP-UX 11i
To connect fabric, the latest A5158A software driver is required.
A5158A HBA supports the use of fiber channel switches between the hosts and storage devices, enabling better performance and fault isolation.
click on web site below to find out more.
It shows patches and drivers released up to date for HBAs on each HP-UX.

hope this helps,

Re: Fabric Environment with HP-UX 11i
One thing to note: If in your Tape Library you have a FC/SCSI bridge A4688A or A4689A, you *must* have fabric anyway, as no type of loop is supported for these.
The below link is the type FC cards for the various systems.

Re: Fabric Environment with HP-UX 11i
just use the command "/opt/fcms/bin/fcmsutil" on the device file shown by "ioscan -fnkC fc" and you will see, wether your fc interface is running in "fabric" or "local loop" or "arbitrated loop" mode.
