Linux (RHEL4) on EVA5k

Hi again,

i've successfully connected ESX and W2K3 Servers on an EVA5k, VCS3.028.
Now, i have to connect few RHEL4 and SLES9 Servers directly to the EVA, with redundant path also.

Did everyone have expirience with Linux and EVA. I think the steps are basicly simmilar than on W2K3. (Install latest HBA Drivers, install MPIO.

We used QLogic adapters for which the multipath feature is embedded in the device driver.

I think SLES10 has native Emulex support and multipathing support.

Short answer: I would look on the proliant downloads page for HP drivers, or look up the card for drivers (Assuming HP servers/HBA's)

Re: Linux (RHEL4) on EVA5k

You say directly!
Linux is not supported on EVA direct connects; you need SAN switches in between!

For VCS3.028 and RHEL4/SLES9 you can only use Qlogic multipathing with Qlogic HBAs.
See: http://h18006.www1.hp.com/products/sanworks/softwaredrivers/multipathoptions/linux.html

If you wanted to use Emulex HBAs and their Multipulse multipathing software you needed to upgrade your EVA to VCS4.x

I would stay with 3.028 and Qlogic!

OK, thanks for the inputs.

Of course therse an FC fabric between EVA and servers ;-)

i go for the Qlogic... i have some Emulex, then i'll exchange them with Qlogics.
