SecurePath/EVA3000/EVA6000/ISL
Prior Environment:
EVA3000 housing production oracle database, 2 HP Storageworks 2/16 SAN switches, 2 production HPUX systems running oracle and securepath, 1 HPUX (w/securepath) system providing backups through data protector to a MSL5060 LTO-1 Library.
Now: We've created an ISL connection between the Old environment and the New environment.
EVA6000, 2 HP Storageworks 4/32 SAN switches, MSL6062 LTO-3 Tape Library, 2 Decru Dataforts.
Is it possible to see the EVA6000 with securepath installed on the HPUX systems? I was told we would need to remove Securepath to be able to see both EVA3000 and EVA6000 through the command view app...
Thanks

Re: SecurePath/EVA3000/EVA6000/ISL
EVA3000 and EVA6000 can be accessed from the very same HP-UX system.
You will run the EVA3000 with Securepath and run the EVA6000 with either PvLinks, DMP or Securepath.
Support is stated in the SAN Design refernce Guuide http://www.hp.com/go/sandesign Chapter 8, Table 63 and in the HP-UX guide.
DMP is part of the optional Veritas package.
In case of Securepath this would mean installing the Autopath portion which comes with Securepath but is not needed for for the EVA3000! See the HP-UX Guide for Securepath for reference.
Cheers
Peter

Re: SecurePath/EVA3000/EVA6000/ISL
Hi Mickael,
You should NOT remove Secure Path unless you remove EVA 3000 from the SAN.
I had almost the same configuration than you at a client's site : old SAN with EVA3000 and new one with EVA4000, and an ISL between.
First thing, you should upgrade firmware of old switch an apply latests HWenable on HP-UX boxes. May be an upgrade of EVA 3000 VCS would be recommended (--> 3.028). Did you ask HP ? Be aware no to upgrade to VCS >= 4 (active/active) if you are currently working with VCS 3.X (active/passive), otherwise you would have to reimport all of your VG
Secondary, you should upgrade to Secure Path 3.0F SP2 patch 2 active/passive if VCS is 3.X.
Then you should install again Secure Path 3.0F SP2 patch 2, active/active module, to access the EVA6000 Luns.
In summary :
- Use Secure Path 3.0F SP2 patch 2, active/passive module, to access EVA 3000 with VCS 3.X --> spmgr
- Use Secure Path 3.0F SP2 patch2, active/active module to access EVA 6000, any version of XCS, and EVA 3000 with VCS >= 4.X --> autopath
- Both module may be installed on the same HP-UX box.
Hope this wil help

Re: SecurePath/EVA3000/EVA6000/ISL
If you upgrade your EVA3000 then go to VCS3.100. It contains some fixes and nice new features like onlin disk FW upgrade (for that you also need to upgrade to CV EVA 6.0.2
See the VCS3.100 release note
Cheers
