Upgrade to ACS 8.8

Hi all SAN wizards!

My question is as follows...

Is there any specific reason to upgrade a customers ACS 8.7-7 to ACS 8.8?

Is it a mandatory upgrade?

This specific customer is planing to replace his EMA12000 with a EVA4000 within 12 months.

So...

Should he wait for the EVA or should he upgrade his EMA12000 to ACS 8.8?

What's your opinion?

Re: Upgrade to ACS 8.8

I have 4 EMA12000 and currently have no plans for replacing them. Even if I had I would recommend the upgrade though. There are a lot of bugfixes and new features which will help to keep the environment more stable.

Re: Upgrade to ACS 8.8

Hi Dragomir,

Similar scenario here as well...we have 6 pairs of HSG80 controllers (EMA12000)...and a number of EVAs...and we are also looking at migration from the EMA12000 storage...

Recent discussions with HP engineers in Brisbane and my personal understanding of the bug fixes and new features (mainly critical bug fixes)....convince us to perform the ACS Upgrade to V8.8 with no confusions...

My 2cents worth...

Re: Upgrade to ACS 8.8

Dragomir,

In the last two weeks I've upgrade our HSG80 controllers to version 8.8-2 P and F without any pain. Follow the update procedures accuratly and be patient between each step.

Kind regards,
