Upgrading an EVA5000 to EVA8100, CommandView License Question

If you upgrade an EVA5000 to an EVA8100, and if you have an unlimited CommandViewEVA license for the 5000 that you are upgrading, do you need to purchase any additional licenses or are you covered with regard to CommandView licensing?

Nevermind about mechanics. I am just asking about Commandview licensing (not snapshot or other licenses which we don't own).

From reading the Quickspecs, I am afraid, yes:

But when purchasing an EVA5000 a while ago (when the 8000's just came out), I believe our line item for CView was:

T3732A HP CV EVA5000/8000 Unlim use per EVA LTU

Now I am wondering again.

My understanding is that a license is bought for a specific box. If you want to transfer it, HP wants to see ca$h again.

Maybe I am wrong - maybe you can do a special deal.

The Command View version 7 license will now be locked against the EVA's WWN.

"Officially", the licenses are not transferrable. Uwe is correct.

Hi Adam,

If your EVA5000 CV unlim. LTU is under support, then you can request CV7 license through ITRC Software Update Manager, check the decsription of the new Unlimited LTU if it is 5000 only or 5000/8000, if it is 5000/8000 you can then decide to activate it for EVA8000 ser.
