Dear all:
One of my customer want to expand there EVA4100 storage system.
I found the EVA4100 had supported the 600GB FC disk drive after the years of 2009,but I can't find any document about the requirement of this.
Are there any requirement such as XCS and disk enclosure firmware?
What should I do before use the 600GB FC disk drive for EVA4100 storage system?
Thanks & Best Regards
JM

Re: Use 600GB FC disk drive for EVA 4100
I don't remember there being support for 600GB drives on the XCS 6.x. I could be mistaken.. as a new version just came out recently. (THought it was just code fixes though for those customers still on G4/G5 code.
And looking at the release notes for the latest version sends you into a vicious circle at the hp website.
There is 600GB support on the EVA4400 (XCS 9.x and 10.x)

SolutionHey, to find the disk drive support go to for example this page: http://h20180.www2.hp.com/apps/Nav?h_pagetype=s-001&h_lang=en&h_cc=us&h_product=12169&h_page=hpcom&cc=us&lang=en&h_client=S-A-R163-1

- Disk Drive Firmware Support (this is updated quite often, direct link)
600 GB, 10K RPM BD600DAJZK HP00 HP01 is supported on 6.2x0, 0952x000,0953x000, 1000000
Also there's two 15K models as well.
This is also seen in the quickspecs:
http://h18000.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/12745_na/12745_na.html#Family Information
Shortly put: you need to get XCS up to 6.2x0 before putting in the 600GB disks. Enclosure firmwares are updated when you upgrade the XCS.

Re: Use 600GB FC disk drive for EVA 4100
Dear Steven, thanks a lot for your reply.I've confirmed that the EVA4100/6100/8100 support the 600GB FC drives later in 2009.And the latest XCS of EVA4100 is 6.240.
Dear Johan, thanks a lot for your several times help.I will upgrade the XCS of EVA4100 before install the 600GB FC drives. Is there any other requirement?
Thanks & Best Regards

Re: Use 600GB FC disk drive for EVA 4100
I'd add that before you group the 600GB disks - upgrade the disk drive firmwares.
If you need to upgrade XCS you probably want to upgrade Command View EVA as well.

Re: Use 600GB FC disk drive for EVA 4100
Hi Johan,I find a problem about upgrade the CV EVA.The current version is 6.0 which not require CV EVA license.
If I upgrade it to version 9.3 or 9.4 that I need to import the CV EVA license.Whether the 600GB disk driver can be used if I don't upgrade the CV EVA version?I just find the requirement of 600GB 15K FC is XCS and Ddisk Drive firmware .
Thanks Johan.
Thanks & Best Regards

Re: Use 600GB FC disk drive for EVA 4100
You need to request a new license for the new system.
Please, read the release notes for the XCS you are upgrading too.
There most likely is a CV requirement in there that you need to fulfill before upgrading XCS.
