how to reconfigure a hba

I have a A6685A hba in a K460 that I need to reconfigure to use with a new CX400. Currently it is configured for use with a FAStT.

Could someone please point me in the right direction?
Thanks in advance Karl

Re: how to reconfigure a hba

The A6685A is the K-class Tachyon FC card. It supports switched fabric (as I remember), and, I guess FC-AL also (not at the same time.) 1 Gbit/s.

I don't recall ever configuring them. You just hook up the fibre cable and ioscan, insf -e. Sometimes you have to reboot.

If you had something there before, you may want to remove the old special files with "rmsf /dev/td0" or whatever, plug in the new cable and ioscan/insf -e. Or reboot if you have to.

Re: how to reconfigure a hba

Karl,

HP Fibre cards are all automatic and virtually no or little config.. It will adjust its speed and topology.. Use the FCMS tools in in /opt/fcms/bin ie. fcmsutil /dev/td0 (to get the connection properties) or tdlist.

I forgot to mention.. ioscan / insf and sometimes a reboot to see your SAN..

Are you using you CX400 (EMC or Dell?) as a DAS - point to point?

Re: how to reconfigure a hba

Nelson, It is an EMC CX400

Thanks for the help.

I think the part I missed was rmsf /dev/tdx first.

I will give it a try.

Nelson, Thank you for your help.
