need information about offline upgrade!!!

Hello!

I have EVA 4400 with fw XCS 09500000. I want upgrade it to latest, bau i 've read that it must be done offline.


Please tell me, how i can do it? which steps i need to do?

Offline means, no server is allowed to access data during this time. Shutdown the servers or at least stop applications.

It is even more than a 'normal' offline, because a *full power-cycle* must be done with the whole EVA-4400.

A full power cycle is power off, then power on.

Please read the "Updating Product Software XCS 09510000 document - it describes the appropriate steps to be done.

Poer recycle shold be required for disk enclosurs as well.

'should' is not enough.

I wrote "full power-cycle" and that means the controller enclosure as well as *all* attached disk drive enclosures.

But, as I have learned from a different thread this week, even that might not be enough:
One has to check every I/O module in the disk drive enclosures if the update was successfull. If not, cause a reset by pulling it, waiting a bit and pushing it back while the EVA is running. That _should_ trigger another update attempt.

Many thanks for all. Upgrade XCS was succeseful. My EVA now working more faster and more stable.

P.S: For "*full-power cycle*" i switch off and switch on all PDU :)

I did this upgrade online. Someone tell me why a full power recycle is needed please?
