Intel 750 1.2 TB SSD AIC & HP Z800 Compatibility Fix
Re: Intel 750 1.2 TB SSD AIC & HP Z800 Compatibility Fix - HP Support Forum - 5423907
I am trying to install an Intel 750 1.2 TB PCIe Add In Card into an HP Z800 Workstation.
The HP Z800 Workstation uses PCIe 2.0 and the Intel 750 uses PCIe 3.0. According to Intel, the 750 is actually backwards compatible to 2.0 and should work, however Intel is also telling me that in the case of the HP Z800, it is actually not compatible.
The HP Z800 Workstation does not see the Intel 750 SSD AIC in either the BIOS, or the Operating System.
My questions are as follows:
1) Is there a hardware upgrade that can be made to the HP Z800 so that the compatibility issue with the Intel 750 SSD AIC can be resolved? The intention here is to use the Intel 750 as the boot drive.
2) In the event a hardware upgrade can be made to the existing HP Z800 motherboard that will permit the use of the Intel 750 SSD as a boot drive, what are the sacrifices in speed?
3) Is there a motherboard replacement option that will receive my existing processors (2 Xeon 6 core with hyperthreading), ram, HP Z800 case, power supply, etc that will be fully compatible with the Intel 750 SSD AIC?
4) If there is a motherboard direct replacement, what would be advised, and where can it be purchased?
Thank you in advance for your gracious input!
Best Regards,
John

This is the wrong company for printers and PC products. You need to register in the HP Inc. Support Forum:

Re: Intel 750 1.2 TB SSD AIC & HP Z800 Compatibility Fix
Hello Dennis,
I am registered in HP Support Forums, and have already posted this question there. I was instructed by a top level member to post here also as the HP Z800 is an Enterprise level machine according to what he said.
Best,
John
