Links from emailed updates go to Biz Support home page

Forgive me if I repeat a thread, but nothing is apparent

I am receiving updates, i.e. receive email from HP Forums [itrc.forums1@hp.com]

Now, for exampt the thread below interests me

http://forums.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/bizsupport/questionanswer.do?threadId=1421702

PRINTING AND DIGITAL IMAGING: PRINT SERVERS, NETWORK STORAGE & WEB JETADMIN

Subject: HP Web jetadmin 10.2 unsuccessful Install

URL:

I want to see the thread directly when I click on it, but get thrown to the Business Support main page, and then seem to have to "go fish".  Perhaps a login is needed, but I want to see that thread and only that thread, please and quickly.  Saving time is important.  Thanks. ,,, Joe S.

Re: Links from emailed updates go to Biz Support home page

Joes - thanks for your message.  Those updates (from the ITRC forums) shouldn't be including any links back to the previous BSC (bizsupport) forums - would you mind sending me a private message, including the contents of the entire email you've most recently received?

You can PM me by opening my profile, and from there click on the "Send this user a private message" link over on the right-hand side of the page.

Re: Links from emailed updates go to Biz Support home page

Good Morning Kevin_Paul,

It seems that these ceased about May 18, 2010.  I was catching up on old (O.K. very old)  emails.  I will post & close thread.  I would be good to access the threads referenced in the old emails though.  Thanks for your help. ,,, Joe S

Re: Links from emailed updates go to Biz Support home page

Hi Kevin_paul

FYI

These messagage are still going out in this format  (5 Oct 2010)

Replace Roller Notification

http://forums.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/bizsupport/questionanswer.do?threadId=1304380

With the reselt as per previous of directing to the home page, after manually locating the thread I see that the last post was Months ago (and ironically not solving the problem, but re-iterating it)

Also in My profile I do not see any bookmarks or tags to this thread, when I think there should be as it seems to be an on-going problem thread that is still awaiting a solution.

A search by threadid would be helpful

Re: Links from emailed updates go to Biz Support home page

I have just (17 Nov 2010) received the email copied below.  The link in the email is invalid and I cannot find this thread anywhere on the present forum.  So how has someone just updated it?!!

Mike

Re: Links from emailed updates go to Biz Support home page

Hello all

I have the same problem. the issue was quite clearly stated in the posts above.

Why don't you simply resolve it

I get mail with the text :

You have asked Hewlett-Packard to notify you about the replies to this online forum discussion topic at the Business Support Forums site:

Deploying HP Thin Clients via Altiris

http://forums.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/bizsupport/questionanswer.do?threadId=1408689

but this link only sends my to the home page, and there is NO way to find back the thread using id or description.

HP listen to this advice: listen to your customers.   Send links in e-mail that works

make the threads easier to find either by threads on your profile that you've replied to, or by searching thread id or description.

Post information:

Google did find my post.

it was not on

http://forums.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/bizsupport/questionanswer.do?threadId=1408689

but on

http://forums11.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?threadId=1408689

but that seems to be an old forum.

I finally browsed all forum pages until I found the thread on

http://h30499.www3.hp.com/t5/Workstations-Thin-Clients/Deploying-HP-Thin-Clients-via-Altiris/td-p/1137770

but: the last link only has partial (2) replies.   the link on http://forums11....  has all replies.

Re: Links from emailed updates do NOT go to the updated thread! *** Needs HP urgent attention!! ***

Yes - this remains unresolved - it is typical of HP's poor responsiveness to its customer base!  Sorry for strident language but it seems to be necessary before we get any action!

Well finally this one did (how Ironic). Unfortunately in IE8 I don't get a scroll bar (as per usual) so have to engage photographic memory mode to remember the thread !

As a support and forum tool it's basically useless and has been ever since it tried to look flash, rather than providing HP users with tools they actually want and need
