Feedback on new forum

These are all with firefox 41.0.2, if it makes a difference.

1) Text composition font color is light gray and hard to read, set default to black.  This is in other areas too.

(better)

2) In board, don't want to see menu for category, that's what bread crumbs are for.

3) Forum, topic, post options menus disappear before moving the mouse to select.  Have to retry N times.  :-(

Basically almost all dropdown menus.

(fixed)

4) Accepted solutions seems to be duplicated:
http://community.hpe.com/t5/ProCurve-ProVision-Based/HPSC-self-solve/m-p/6807374

(Fixed finally, 2016-06-25 or so)

5) No post numbering and can't find URL to copy a direct link to the post!

(I had need for this today to point to a particular posts!)

6) Time of post is off to far right!  Put it under the author.

7) Subject name of replies is in such a small (gray) font.  I do correct subjects all the time.

8) On a board with Latest, Solved Topics and Top Kudoed Posts, the date format is NOT in the format I have in my Preferences.  I want YYYY-MM-DD.  Not standard US form, MMM, DD, YYYY.

9) On a board, I can't cut&paste the name of the board and its description!

So how do I report problems except by possibly cryptic URL.

10) No new counts under forum drop down, under a category.  How do I know what's new?
You only see this on the sub-category.
http://community.hpe.com/t5/Servers/ct-p/itrc-122
And the places with new counts, they are in light gray and hard to read.  If you want to make it better have two different colors for 0 and non-zero.  For the counts that are of just entries and not posts, they shouldn't be colored, since they seldom change and aren't interesting.

11) On categories with NO Featured Content, don't display it!
Also, default to discussions, not blogs.

12) Second line of Editing tools is jammed to right.

(fixed)

13) No special color or mark for MY floated topics.  System floated has gray bars.

(Seems to be fix or as well as prev forum.)

14) When going from page to page of a board, the numbers at the bottom have the "..." highlighted.  This is NOT a button, don't highlight it.

15) On the bread crumb line, the HPE and element comes and goes, get rid of this unneeded fanciness.  The brand is already on the top of the page!  So what if it scrolls off.

16) When you're on a board or category, the search still defaults to Community.

17) Search Sort by, same problem with menu dropdown, trying to select it.

(fixed with 3) above.)

18) Where is advanced search?  The new search doesn't seem to have as many options.  No exclude!

19) You can't see the filters for the searches, just the RED X.  (White on white) Unless you select that line.

20) Can't use middle button to open a tab in the category dropdown menu!  Must right click, then open link in new tab.

(fixed)

21) There is no View All for friends on the Home Page.  If you have more than configured, you can't see them.

Not sure if old forum had the same problem.

More fundamentally, why are there two very different layouts in topic
listings?  On this forum, there are columns:

Subject         Replies         Author  Rating  Views   Latest Post

But on an "All Topics" page like
http://community.hpe.com/t5/forums/recentpostspage/category-id/itrc-117
there's an all-purpose blob on the left with the Subject, Author, and
"Latest posted" (and a brief extract), with the Replies and Views
numbers in an expanse of white space on the right (with individual
REPLY/REPLIES and VIEW/VIEWS labels).

Aside from the differences in info included, why are Replies and
Views separated by Author and Rating in one case, and adjacent in the
other?  Perhaps some layout difference is justified between these
listings, but why so much?

Re: Complaints on new forum

I noticed that I can click "Reply" without being signed in.

So I write my comment and post. Then I need to sing in and my post disappears ...  :-(

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

This may be the same as the prev forum version:

Not sure, you tell us?  Other than the fact they joined two categories together without an announcement?

Re: Complaints on new forum

You can still reach the forum by a different domain than "community.hpe.com"

e.g. http://h30507.www3.hp.com/t5/Storage/ct-p/itrc-120 instead of http://community.hpe.com/t5/Storage/ct-p/itrc-120.

If you reach the forums from the non-HPE branded URL, the login process does not work correctly.  You end up in a redirect loop when trying to post after it logs you in.  Several google searches land you on the non-HPE branded URL.  The only way to get the login & posting to work is to manually change the hostname to "community.hpe.com".
