Re: 16TB partition RHEL 4U8
Please see:
http://www.redhat.com/rhel/compare/
RedHat lists the maximum supported ext3 filesystem size on RHEL 4 as 8 TB only. But it might mean only that RedHat has tested RHEL 4 only up to 8 TB. If you want to try it, good luck!
NOTE: The absolute upper limit for the size of ext3 filesystem is 16 TB. Even 1 TB filesystems using ext3 can take a lot of time to run a filesystem check, so a 16 TB ext3 might not be a good idea.
You cannot use a traditional PC partition table: its absolute upper limit is only 2 TB. You need to use either LVM or Itanium-style GPT partition table: I would recommend LVM, because it gives you more flexibility than partitions when you eventually have to move your 16 TB from one storage to another.
I hope you have a 64-bit system: 16 TB is also the maximum size of LVM logical volumes on a 32-bit system. On a 64-bit system, LVM has no problems handling even bigger disks.

Re: 16TB partition RHEL 4U8
I did it by adding the XFS kernel module , I mounted 17TB on the box
