9i RAC with 2 LAN
According to the following link we will need 3 lan card on HP-UX box for setting up the Oracle 9iRAC (with serviceguard and SG extention for RAC).
http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/oracle9i/htdocs/9irachp.html#61
One dedicated cluster heartbeat LAN, one dedicated global cache management (GCM) LAN and one User/Data LAN which will also carry a secondary heartbeat.
I have just 2 LAN in my servers. Can I setup Oracle 9iRAC or not?

Re: 9i RAC with 2 LAN
From the service guard perspective you can. SG will function very nicely with two LAN's you really don't need to have an extra heartbeat. The dedicated heartbeat LAN should be totally uncongested, preferably private between the two nodes.
You may have issues with RAC by combining the public IP lan and the GCM lan.
Just to be sure, what kind of HP-UX servers do you have?
Most have a built in LAN card that can serve as an extra network.

If you see three, you have three.
I'd say you can give Oracle 9iRAC a try, if other resource and patch requirements are met, you have a good shot at success.
Better though with Oracle to follow the book and purchase another lan card.

Re: 9i RAC with 2 LAN
Depending on how busy you expect your user/data LAN to be, you shouldn't have many issues. If you share cache LAN with HB Lan, be sure to increase your node timeout values. Also, be sure to TEST thoroughly before going live.

Re: 9i RAC with 2 LAN
I think you may wish to give this a try.
We only experiment with RAC now, but some of those experiments have occurred on machines with less than 3 network cards.

Re: 9i RAC with 2 LAN
It's not recommended to use 2 lan cards, but, if you want to configure in this way, try putting user/data and heartbeat in one lan and the other use for oracle cache.
You will not have stand-by lan.
