Re: AB378A firmware
Just make sure you are using a current driver version.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Solutionaccording to latest "HP-UX Fibre Channel (fcd and fclp) Host Bus Adapter Support Matrix" (June 4, 2010)
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c02215540/c02215540.pdf
the recommended firmware/EFI driver for AB378A HBA is EFI 1.09 / RISC 4.00.90 (11 May 2007),
and this is the latest firmware/EFI driver for this HBA.
I don't understand, why this version was removed from HP support web site.
You cand find this version in attached file efi_109.zip.
Following the Torsten note read the document "HP FC Cards with fcd Driver on HPUX (IA64) - Firmware Related Questions"
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&taskId=120&prodSeriesId=311420&prodTypeId=329290&objectID=c01035671

Re: AB378A firmware
XCS 6.220 requires CV EVA 8.02 as a minimum.
Read carefully the docs:
"HP StorageWorks 4x00/6x00/8x00 Enterprise Virtual Array release notes (XCS 6.220)"
http://bizsupport2.austin.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c01721444/c01721444.pdf
"HP StorageWorks 4x00/6x00/8x00 Enterprise Virtual Array Updating Product Software Guide (XCS 6.220)"
http://bizsupport2.austin.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c02104123/c02104123.pdf
"HP StorageWorks Enterprise Virtual Array Compatibility Reference"
http://bizsupport2.austin.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c02248319/c02248319.pdf
Remember also to upgrade firmware on FC switches.

Zygmunt

Re: AB378A firmware
according to
"HP StorageWorks 4x00/6x00/8x00 Enterprise Virtual Array release notes (XCS 6.200)"
http://bizsupport2.austin.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c01746220/c01746220.pdf
but the case for upgrade path for direct from XCS 6.000 to 6.220 is not covered in
"HP StorageWorks Enterprise Virtual Array Compatibility Reference"
http://bizsupport2.austin.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c01746220/c01746220.pdf
So you can try to upgrade directly from 6.000 to 6.220 (undocumented case),
or more safe upgrade in two steps:
1) 6.000 -> 6.100 (or 6.110 or 6.200)
2) then to 6.220

Zygmunt
