AIC-7880 install help!

I decided to switch my home server over to Red hats version of linux. I have a Netserver LC3 with 9.1Gb SCSI. This system ran fine under 2000, however I can't get the box to go past the scsi driver install of 7xxx. I get a parity error detected with data in phase seq address 0x1AE. I have been on just about every newsgroup searching for the answer, and I see a lot of problems with the driver, but no clear way on how to fix it. I am loading red hat version 9. I get the same problem when trying to install 7.2. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks for you help in advance.

Hi Keenan,

I've read somewhere that it has something to do with HP firmware, not the Linux aic7xxx driver itself.

However, you can try to go into expert mode and manually load aic7xxx_old.

Good luck.

Thanks for the response. Where is the old driver located?

Re: AIC-7880 install help!

During the install, if you let Red Hat choose a driver for you it will always fall back to aic7xxx.

Therefore, at the first installation screen you must enter "expert", then manually load the "aid7xxx_old" driver.

Good luck.

Well I tried using the old driver, and that didn't work either. Any other tricks up your sleeve?
