APM support on XH136 pavilion w/ Suse Linux 7.3

I would like to know if anyone has been able to activate APM support on an XH136 under Suse Linux 7.3? I would like to blank the screen to save power. Suspend to disk works, but only after an initial manual Fn+F12 activation

According to the Linux on Laptops website, you can do a kernel patch for ACPI support. With Mandrake 8.2 there is an RPM for an ACPID (deamon) from the cooker site.
