Adding a disk
I am working with HP-UX 10.20. An HP9000 D class server with a disk array with autoraid.
I shut the system down and plugged the new disk in, but when I booted the system the new disk produced an error, and the was not there when I did an ioscan.
I am pretty new to all this, so any help would be gratefully appreciated.
PS I don't what this means but the disk had a label on it saying that it is 'a single-ended SCSI device device and is only intended for operation on a single-ended bus. Do not install this on a differential bus'....I have a feeling that this may be a problem. Help please

Re: Adding a disk
Precisely where have you installed the new disc?
in the AutoRaid? or internally in the Dclass.
If internally then this is your problem as that isa Fast/Wide Differential bus, not SE.

Re: Adding a disk
I tried to install the disc in the Autoraid. I have taken it out now. I have A and B columns and 0,1,2 adresses already have discs. I tried to install the new disc on B3.

Re: Adding a disk
hi there,
Autoraid supports Single ended disks. I assume it's a hot-swappable.
Follow the procedure,
01. Remove the disk and keep it in your table
02. Start autoraid , then Server
03. Put the harddisk into the autoraid box you don't need to shut it down.
04. find out whether it is included in the array or not
05. if not add it manually (follow the manual)
06. If you wan't you can create another LUN on the array and use it or use it as a hot stand-by
ioscan will not show each & every disk in the array it will show the LUNs only.
Best of luck,
kaps
