Audio skipping problems
Hi,
I just recently purchased the HP Pav. DV5000 laptop which came with Windows Home Edition. Everything worked fine till i upgraded to the Win XP PRO SP2 edition.
Now, When i playback audio in winamp, WMP etc the mp3 skips, not contantly, but frequently enough. I've checked my ram etc and i definitely have enough memory (plus, this is a new laptop).
This problem also happens when i play movies/clips where the audio crackles and skips.
If anyone could offer any insight how to rectify this i would really appreciate it.
I've read a bit about IRQ conflicts and maybe that's my problem? Although i have no idea what to do if there is conflicting devices ( i've listed my IRQs below)
IRQ 0 System timer OK
IRQ 1 Quick Launch Buttons OK
IRQ 8 System CMOS/real time clock OK
IRQ 9 Microsoft ACPI-Compliant System OK

Re: Audio skipping problems
Hello:
For best results, post in the following forum, as well as here:
http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/bizsupport/categoryhome.do?categoryId=411
I don't know the specific cause of your problem, but I would suggest installing anything newer than what presently is installed on your computer, from here:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareList?os=228&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&product=499849#
If you're confused about that page, try the 2 links near the top of the page (just above the "Microsoft Windows XP" blue bar.
Make a great day and happy holidays.
Roger

Re: Audio skipping problems
Hmm thanks for the links, tried updating/re-installing drivers from the hp website but still skips :(
It's rather annoying because everthing else seems to be fine.

Re: Audio skipping problems
I would try a CTRL-ALT-DELETE and open Task Manger. Select the Processes tab and click the CPU column title to sort by CPU-usage. Please post the process(es) using most CPU.
Thanks and Merry Christmas.
Roger
