We are testing SAN connectivity from a BL460c running RHEL 5.2 x86_64 to a IBM System Storage DS8000 based SAN. Currently we have connected using a FC-Pass-Thru.
We didn't have any issues with Windows 2008 Server. The vol showed up with a rescan.
On RHEL we are having trouble. We have successfully installed PSP 8.11 (psp-8.11.rhel5.x86_64.en.tar). HP Remote Deployment shows that all drivers were current.
lsmod shows that lpfc, scsi_transport_fc and scsi_mod are loaded.
/proc/scsi/scsi is empty.
fdisk -l shows only the partitions on the local disks.
Any ideas to get it working is much appreciated.
We have tried recreating the volume but doesn't seem to help.
Best regards,
Shiraj Fernando.

Re: BL460c RHEL 5.2 Unable to connect to IBM DS8000 Volumes
According to them HP BL460c & LPe1105 HBA are not supported under linux because it's not listed in the interoperability matrix for IBM DS8000.

Folks, any ideas are much appreciated.
Thanks,
Shiraj.

Solutionhttp://h18004.www1.hp.com/products/servers/linux/hplinuxcert.html
but i have personally engaged with DS4000 with same BL model with RHEL 4.6 which showed none of issues given in your scenario.
it might take time IBM to test these combination and update there grid. anyway my argument is IBM should able to find a clue for this because it works fine with same config on DS4000.
Good Luck...!

Re: BL460c RHEL 5.2 Unable to connect to IBM DS8000 Volumes
The microcode of the Storage Controllers on the DS8000 was updated from version 62.42.88.0 to version 63.1.46.0 by IBM Support and this resolved the issue.
We are now able to connect to presented san volumes from Linux (RHEL 5 & RHEL 4) & Windows 2003 using BL460c servers using both LPe1105 and QMH2462 HBAs.
Best regards,
Shiraj Fernando.
