Bad behaviour of Netcape (Java) on C3000 Only
Hello,
This message will sound strange for most of you but is quite anoying for me.
It seems that netscape (4.08, 4.7) popup windows are not working on C3000
(installed in HPUX10.20). For example, the java console is not appearing, the
in/out function of the HP Web console is not working and similar problem for
other applications.
Similar functions are working fine on B180
Does anyone know something about this? (I tried to look at the patches but
nothing was relevant for me)
regards
Emmanuel

Re: Bad behaviour of Netcape (Java) on C3000 Only
Is your graphics well-configured ? The default depth is 8 bit, can be that you
are trying to run Netscape in 24 bit color.
1/ run /usr/contrib/bin/X11/xdpyinfo. Check pseudo/true colors to see if you
have 8 plane color.
2/ Check if /etc/X11/X0screens contains the following :
screen /dev/
DefaultVisual Class TrueColor
Depth 24
Layer Image
3/ Reset the X server.
4) Try to run netscape again. Hope all works fine now.

Re: Bad behaviour of Netcape (Java) on C3000 Only
Thanks you for your response.
I've checked both info and I'm working with a 8bits depth. So the problem
remains present.
Here is the result:
default visual id: 0x21
visual:
visual id: 0x20
class: PseudoColor
depth: 8 planes
available colormap entries: 256
red, green, blue masks: 0x0, 0x0, 0x0
significant bits in color specification: 8 bits

visual:
visual id: 0x22

depth: 8 planes
available colormap entries: 8 per subfield
red, green, blue masks: 0xe0, 0x1c, 0x3
significant bits in color specification: 8 bits

Re: Bad behaviour of Netcape (Java) on C3000 Only
We have found what goes wrong, but it seems it is a netscape problem with
the new graphical boards.
Actually, netscape is choosing a wrong visual id and not the default one. So
that there is side effects.
Here is the argument to pass:
/opt/netscape/netscape -visual Default
