log file = /cifs/samba/log/%m.%u.log
What did testparms indicate?
And dos2ux /etc/opt/samba/smb.conf?
Also run "...sar -d 5 5..." and attach.

I'm not aware of any issues related to disk i/o on that version. Having said that A.01.06 is still a few versions behind - what version were you running previously as there may be some new parameters between the 2 revisions.
