Cant get Xwindows to display on linux box from RX3600 server
No matter what I do I cant get the Xwindow to display on my linux 4.0 server. I changed the gdm.conf file for things listed in prior thread but nothing seems to work?? Any ideas??

Re: Cant get Xwindows to display on linux box from RX3600 server
Please describe the full process that you are using. Ensure your configuration is correct using gdmsetup.
If you use ssh, connect with ssh -X
If you use ssh, connect with ssh -X
Por que hacerlo dificil si es posible hacerlo facil? - Why do it the hard way, when you can do it the easy way?

Re: Cant get Xwindows to display on linux box from RX3600 server
Brenda,
The first thing to check is that both hosts know one another by the same name e.g. check your hosts and DNS that both resolve correctly.
Next try to pull a simple xsession such as xterm using the "--display" option to ensure that there is no permission problem.
Third (and also first) check the value of your $DISPLAY variable.
Lastly do an "xhost +" and repeat the other steps.

Shalom,
service xfs start
chkconfig xfs on
chkconfig sshd on
service sshd on
From another Unix/Linux box.
ssh -X hostname gnome-terminal
This almost always resolves these issues.
