CentOS 5 Installation on Proliant ML110 G4

Hi all,

I can successfully install CentOS5 on Proliant ML110 G4 with hardware RAID1 (on board RAID - SATA). Linux can recognize the RAID disk. But when I simulate to have one hard disk failed, the BIOS knows how to degrade itself, but Linux can't boot up. As far as I know, hardware RAID1 can still boot up if one disk is broken. Is it the problem of CentOS Linux or the server itself?

P.S. After I plug in another disk (two now), Linux can boot up even if I didn't regenerate the RAID1 disk.

Thanks in advance,
Wilson

Shalom,

Sounds like you've discovered an OS flaw. Document it and report it to bugzilla.redhat.com

Note also the hardware has yet to be certified with RH 5.
