Simpler Navigation for Servers and Operating Systems - Please Update Your Bookmarks
Completed: a much simpler Servers and Operating Systems section of the Community. We combined many of the older boards, so you won't have to click through so many levels to get at the information you need. Check the consolidated boards here as many sub-forums are now single boards.
If you have bookmarked forums or discussion boards in Servers and Operating Systems, we suggest you check and update them as needed.

Check for free hard-drive space

Hi guys!
I am using Redhat Linux 7.2
can someone please tell me how I can check how much free space I have on my hard-drive? I really need to know this. Thank you!

Re: Check for free hard-drive space

To check for free disk space you use the df command

Typing df will show you the total space on a device, the space used and the space available. If you want this in a more "human readable" form try typing

df -h

at the command prompt. This will show you the space using mb and gigs. It is easier to read that way.

Hope this helps.
