Clear my Doubt.

Hi,

I am having one doubt...
Is it possible to configure the tapedrive in windows m/c and taking the backup of clients in that tapedrive from linux or unix servers.

let me know if any details req...

Not completely sure whether I understand your question. If you're wondering whether you can backup your unix/linux filesystems on a tape-drive that's in a windows machine, that would depend on the backup tool used.

Network based backup tools (veritas netbackup, legato, ..) can do this without a problem: each machine to be backed up runs a client which connects to your backup server over the network.

Should your question be a different one, forgive me, and ignore my message.

Actually what i am asking is..assume
u have one windows server in that u configured ur tape drive with veritas backup utility for taking backup of client files.Now the new situation came like below...
U want to install the verias utility on linux m/c and accessing the tapedrive which is already preconfigured on windows m/c.Then u have to take backup of clients files in the network thru the linux m/c to tape...
Now u got it...
