CodeWord problem

Hello,
I'm installing HP-UX 11.23, and I need to find a way to read the "media part number" software side, because I'm not sure the one printed on the dvd is the good one.
Is there an easy way to do that?
I'm using 11.11, and SD Install doesnt prompt for codeword (prompt on which there wwould have been the media part number)

Re: CodeWord problem

Shalom,

I've never received install media where the media was wrong.

Still its possible. The number is also printed on document(pdf?) that includes the codeword. If that does not work you need to log a support call.

Re: CodeWord problem

Ok.
Are you sure there's a CodeWord Sheet for each cd/dvd.

I have two Packing list :

I. "SoftBench"

- DVD Application Software
- Customer Letter
- Info DVD
- CodeWord sheet

II. "Core Packing list"

- 11i v2 FOE (2 DVDs)
- 11i v2 Install/Update Guide
- DVD Software Pack

I have no CodeWord for II., and the CodeWord Sheet for I. contains only the one for the DVD Application Software

Is there something missing?

Re: CodeWord problem

Though I don't use any 11.23 installs I hope the same still applies.
You could try to use swinstall command line and pass along your codeword as well as customer id like so:

# swinstall -x customer_id= -x codeword= ... -x other_options ... -s /path/to/depot

Re: CodeWord problem

You may check wheter a depot requires a codeword for install by

# swlist -l fileset -a is_secure -s /path/to/depot \*

Re: CodeWord problem

Okay,

I get a "true" for CONTENTS.ENCRYPTED in the FOE DVD 1.
I assume I have to contact HP?

Thanks

Re: CodeWord problem

On your accompanying code sheet there should be an URL where you can generate a matching codeword for your CD/DVD media set No. at this site.

Re: CodeWord problem

I don't have this url, all I have (from the installing guide) is a url of a form asking for a Customer Identifier I don't have.
(I've only got one for one DVD whitch works fine)...

Re: CodeWord problem

You're probably right.
HP may have discontinued the self-generating codeword uri.
I checked the link I found in a not so recent anymore flyer that came with some sw license sheets, only to be redirected to the ITRC entry page
(but I can remember that it once had provided me with a codeword). :-(

Anyway, since you have a license you should be able to obtain a codeword instantly.
In my more recent docs there is either a paper form to be filled in and faxed to a specified fax dial.
Also there are various email addresses for this request, depending on your continental region.
For instance for us in Europe this one should apply: codeword_europe@hp.com,
wheres customers in the Americas are requested to refer to: hplicense.na@hp.com

Have you tried contacting any of these?

Re: CodeWord problem

hi,

you dont need a codeword for the other media like core os/install.

you only have one codeword sheet? then this is all the optional software you have a licence for and can install.

on the codeword sheet it will list this product for you to install. Many other apps/drivers are free to install and this is why they show up when mounted with swinstall.

if you mount the cd, run swinstall and add the codeword this will tell you the part number of the cd/dvd needed. if entering the codeword provided is accepted then you have the right media and will be able to install the application/lic whatever it is?

I think you can put the cd in a windows machine and read the table of contents though if you just want to know the cd/dvd part number.
