Colorado 8Gb Tapes Drive & NT Server 4.0

When using NTBACKUP I somestimes get the message:

"Tape device reported error on a request to read error on tape" Error= Hardware

Also the tape drive occasionaly jams and causes the tape to be unusable.
erasing the tape temporarely fixes the problem. I have run the Tape Diagnostic
software and it reports no errors.
Can you please advise????

Hello Mike,

The error and problem that you describe is frequently related to the firmware
revision of the physical tape drive. I'm not sure what kind of tape drive you
are using, but the first thing I would do is go to the vendor's website and
download/install the latest firmware for your drive.

Try upgrading to the latest rev of the firmware and see if the problem goes
