Comapaq Proliant ML370G3 showing wrong Processor Information

I am using Compaq Proliant ML370G3 with 2 * 2.8 GHz Processors. My OS is Windows 2000 Server with service pack 4. It shows me 4 processor's while physically i am having 2 processors (2 * 2.8 GHz). What will be the solution of it as this same problem is with my new Compaq Proliant ML370G3 also.

OS see 4 logical CPUs becaue hyperthreading:

you may disable hyperthreading in BIOS.

Re: Comapaq Proliant ML370G3 showing wrong Processor Information

hyperthreading is a good thing.

it allows the processor to handle other things while waiting on interupts.

the third and fourth 'processors' are virtual, essentially "stuff to do while i'm waiting" list for the real processors.

now microsoft seems to think hyperthreading is a bad thing, and unless your running XP or Server 2003, it'll cost you more money (isn't that always the way.)
